The roadmap for digital exams
Digital exams will be available for our Early Adopter Programme from June 2026 and worldwide from June 2027 onwards. Find out which subjects and components will have a digital option in our roadmap.
The following two updated syllabuses – for first examination in 2028 – will have digital components:
Cambridge International AS & A Level Media Studies (9607)
Excerpt from syllabus:
- Component 2: Media texts and contexts: This is now a digital only exam – students view the excerpt on an individual device and type their responses on screen.
- Component 4: Critical perspectives: This is now a digital only exam – students type their responses on screen.

Cambridge IGCSE Spanish (0530)
Excerpt from syllabus:
- Students will now be able to take this exam in digital format. The paper-based version will continue to be available. The digital version will have the audio embedded with the on-screen questions, no paper materials needed. The other three components (reading, writing and speaking) will remain in current paper format.

July 2026 Digital Mocks Service
Digital mocks are a great way to prepare for live digital exams. The next digital mocks series will run between 6 July and 30 August 2026. Twelve exams – including four new to the July series – are available. Expressions of interest open on 20 April and close on 31 May. January 2026 Digital Mocks Service
There is still time to book onto the January digital mocks series. Schools that submitted an online Expression of Interest form have been sent instructions and can book until 3 March. Exams can be sat until 15 March. Find out more about January 2026 digital mocks service.
