Sunny Yang

Pro Vice-Chancellor (Global Partnerships)

University of Newcastle, Australia

Ms Sunny Yang joined the University of Newcastle, Australia from March 2023 as Pro Vice-Chancellor (Global Partnerships).

Prior to that, Sunny was at Monash University for more than 13 years. Monash is a World Top 50 ranked research-intensive public university with 86,000 total student enrolments and campuses in Australia, Malaysia, China, India, Indonesia and centre in Italy. As the Associate Vice-President (Student Recruitment and Admissions), Sunny was responsible for Monash University and Monash College’s domestic and international student attraction and admissions.

Sunny is a known market expert and has significant expertise in student marketing, recruitment channel management, partnership development, admissions, student load forecast and market strategies.   

She was the Chair of Australian Universities International Directors Forum (AUIDF) for a number of years. 

Sunny speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese and taught at Beijing Normal University briefly in her early career.
