Data Protection and Privacy Statement

Cambridge Assessment, through its three exam boards, offers various education-related products and services, including materials to support learners and teachers, training services for teachers and assessment specialists, and research work aimed at educators and policy makers. Cambridge Assessment’s address is The Triangle Building, Shaftesbury Road, Cambridge, CB2 8EA.

The information below sets out how Cambridge Assessment uses and stores the personal data collected via our website, or when you apply for a post with us by other means. It is important to us that we protect your privacy and your personal data. If you have any questions about such matters you can contact us at data.protection@cambridgeassessment.org.uk.

It is important that this notice is read together with any other privacy notice we may provide when we are collecting personal data about you. This notice supplements the other notices and is not intended to override them.

'Personal information' means any piece of information which can identify you, i.e. would make it clear to others that the information is about you. It can be a single piece of information, for example, your name. Or it can be separate pieces of information, for example your address, nationality, education history and gender, which, when combined, would help others to identify you.

What personal data do we collect?

The personal information we collect from you will vary depending on the role which you are applying for. It may include, but is not limited to, the following:

  • identity data including your name, date of birth and gender
  • contact data including your home/work postal address, email address and phone number
  • your employment and education history, including any qualifications which you have.
  • Information gathered as part of the interview process, such as your response to questions, which may be based on your experiences, or test results.
  • Technical data including internet protocol (IP) address, login data, browser type and technology used to access this website.

During the recruitment process, we may collect and share additional data to ensure we are complying with our legal obligations, for example, to check your right to work in the UK and for some roles, to carry out a criminal records check (also known as DBS Checks). We may also request references from your referees, where you have given us permission to contact them.

How do we use your personal data?

We use the information you provide in your application which you have provided with your consent, to;

  • Establish your identity
  • manage the recruitment process,
  • to assess your suitability for employment, and,
  • for successful applicants, to enter into a contract of employment.

The information you give us will be shared internally those involved in the recruitment and selection process. It will not be shared with other organisations, except where they are also party to the recruitment process.

The information you provide on the ‘Equal Opportunities Monitoring’ section of the Application Form will be used for equality and diversity monitoring. It is not shared with anyone involved in the selection process.

If you are successful, the information you provide will form the basis of your employee record and you will then be provided with the Cambridge Assessment Employee Privacy Notice.

Retention

We will keep your personal data for no longer than is necessary and we do not use profiling or automated decision-making processes. This means that people are involved in every decision about you.

Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to: obtain confirmation that we hold personal data about you, request access to and receive information about the personal data we maintain about you, receive copies of the personal data we maintain about you, update and correct inaccuracies in your personal data, object to the processing of your personal data, and have your personal data blocked, anonymised or deleted, as appropriate. The right to access your personal data may be limited in some circumstances by local law requirements. To exercise these rights, please contact us by emailing data.protection@cambridgeassessment.org.uk.

You are also entitled to contact the Information Commissioner’s Office for advice and guidance with regards to this notice.

Changes to this Policy

We may make changes to this Privacy Policy and will let you know about these changes by displaying them on this website. Changes will begin to have effect at the time they are displayed. The version of the Privacy Policy that will apply to you is the one which is current at the time we contact you, you use this website or you use our services.
