Online marking workshops are recommended for teachers who have been teaching Cambridge programmes and qualifications for at least one year or one exam cycle and/or have attended Introduction training. In this workshop you will be marking candidate responses, sharing your marks with other teachers and comparing your marks with those awarded by Cambridge.
Marking the candidate responses will help you become more familiar with what the examiners are looking for. This insight will enable you to focus your classroom activities on those areas where your learners need to improve.
In addition to the marking activity, you will have the opportunity to raise questions about and share your experiences of the syllabus, your teaching and any other points of interest.
Aims
Collaboration and reflection are key to effective learning. Under the guidance of an experienced Cambridge tutor, you will be working closely with other teachers to develop your understanding and share any ideas and experiences.
Marking workshops enable teachers to engage with additional candidate responses to build confidence in their understanding of the assessment criteria.
Timings and content
Marking Workshops are 3 weeks long and focus on the following:
- Week 1: Marking candidate scripts
- Week 2: Marking standardisation
- Week 3: Reviewing marking and asking questions
Teachers should expect to spend 3 hours a week on the workshop, up to a total of 9 hours across the 3 weeks.
Successful completion of this course is based on participation in collaborative activities with teachers from around the world. The discussions and activities each week are in groups. You do not need to be online at a particular time of day for our online courses, but we recommend that you access the course every day. To help you manage your time and aid collaboration, we provide clear guidelines so you know which days to carry out the activities for each week.
Participants who complete key weekly activities and engage fully in discussions throughout the course will receive a certificate of attendance.
In order to facilitate rich and meaningful discussions with participants and the course tutor, bookings for our online courses are limited to 25 participants per session.
