VIDEO: Mathematics from Cambridge International

We believe there are many ways students can make progress in mathematics. Mathematics from Cambridge International offers a flexible range of options to suit every ability level and career aspiration.

Our mathematics syllabuses provide a solid foundation for students. They build subject knowledge and understanding and encourage the development of problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Accessible and powerful

We put learners at the heart of our mathematics programme. Whatever mathematics students are learning, it is powerful knowledge that will support them for the rest of their lives. Our syllabuses emphasise in-depth mathematical understanding over rote learning, developing mathematical fluency as a key life skill.

Our mathematics assessments are in the medium of English. We design these assessments very carefully to make sure they are accessible to speakers of English as a second or foreign language – both in terms of language and cultural references. Our questions use clear language. For example, questions in Cambridge International AS & A Level Mathematics use fewer command words than any other international A Level.

We offer a tiered assessment structure for Cambridge IGCSE including ‘Core’ and ‘Extended’ pathways to help teachers manage different abilities. Tiered assessment gives schools flexibility in the way they differentiate for their students, plan lessons and teach skills and content. Students who study the Core syllabus content will be eligible for grades C to G (or 9 to 4). Those who have studied the Extended syllabus content are eligible for grades A* to G (or 9 to 1).

Our syllabuses are also stepping stones to future learning, preparing students for the next stage of their education.
