Location: Wellington, New Zealand

Entrance requirements: Entry into any of the university's undergraduate programmes requires (within the UK) three GCE Advanced Level passes at Grade C or higher; (outside the UK) three GCE Advanced Level passes, one subject must be at Grade C or higher. The university accepts Cambridge IGCSE First Language English and English as a Second Language as evidence of English language proficiency for undergraduate applications on a case-by-case basis. Students who have participated in the Cambridge International Project Qualification (IPQ) are encouraged to submit it alongside their A Levels.

International students

‘We have around 2000–2500 international students each year, which amounts to roughly 13 per cent of the total student population. Our students come from over 100 countries.’

‘International students should explore our Scholarships page. We offer a variety of scholarships; the most suitable one for Cambridge International students (outside New Zealand) is our Tongarewa Scholarship.’

‘Some of our most popular subjects are Business, Architecture, Design, Film, Law, Engineering (incl. Cybersecurity and Software), International Relations, Psychology, Actuarial Science and Data Science.’

Cambridge International students

‘Over the years, Victoria University of Wellington has welcomed Cambridge International students from many countries around the world. All of our undergraduate programmes have the same entry requirement, so there is no differentiation between the individual bachelor’s degrees (exceptions are the Bachelor of Education, which requires a higher level of English, and the performance-based majors in the Bachelor of Music, which requires an audition). Our Bachelor of Design Innovation and our Bachelor of Architecture do not require students to submit a portfolio for first-year entry.’

  • ‘We offer fantastic ways to enhance your qualification – for instance our Wellington International Leadership Programme and a community-based volunteering programme called Wellington Plus Programme.
  • Join one of our 130+ clubs and societies.
  • If you need academic support, our Student Learning team will be there to help.
  • Interested in making your experience even more international? You may wish to consider student exchange through our Wellington Global Exchange programme while studying at our university.
  • Our Careers and Employment team provide guidance for job applications, CV writing, interview techniques, career expos, etc.’
