When Mheirik Del Mundo, a Cambridge student at GEMS Westminster School in Dubai, was diagnosed with Guillain Barré Syndrome last year, it seemed like his education would be derailed. The rare condition left him bedridden and unable to attend classes.

Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards are currently being distributed to students all over the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to recognise their achievements in our 2015 exam series. Over 500 outstanding learners from the region will receive awards for their exceptional performance in Cambridge exams.

“Cambridge Global Perspectives was an engaging course that encouraged us to consider how various perspectives shape social conditions and our mind-sets,” says Megha Nanaki Parwani (pictured), the June 2015 Cambridge ‘Top in the World’ award winner for Global Perspectives and student at United World College South East Asia (East campus) Singapore.

We spoke to Ydo Jousma, International Coordinator at the International School Eerde (ISE), Ommen, in The Netherlands to find out about the students’ event and how the Travel & Tourism course has brought the school closer to its community.
