Resources for study in Germany

You can find out which universities and colleges in Germany recognise Cambridge qualifications by searching our recognitions database. We recommend checking with organisations directly for the most up-to-date information as their requirements are subject to change.

You can find helpful information about studying and living in Germany on the websites below:

Study programmes and admission

  • anabin – the platform run by the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB) (available in German only); use it to check the official guidelines regarding the recognition of foreign qualifications
  • uni-assist – international students use this platform to apply to international study programmes in Germany; uni-assist coordinates admission to 170 German universities. The platform is also a go-to source of information on admission routes and procedures (available in German and English)
  • Detailed information on all Bachelor courses as well as admission routes can also be found on the Hochschulkompass (Higher Education Compass). The Hochschulkompass is an information portal of the German Rectors' Conference (Hochschulrektorenkonferenz – HRK) and is available in both German and English.
  • Studienwahl.de - Germany’s study guide provided by the Ministry of Labour and Hochschulstart, aimed at high school graduates.

Broader information on studying and living in Germany

  • The German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst, DAAD) is an association of German institutions of higher education and their student bodies. DAAD’s website provides detailed information and support on many aspects of studying in Germany: courses of study, scholarships, planning and organising a visit to a prospective institution, applications procedures and much more. Available in both English and German.
  • Study in Germany – a website created jointly by DAAD and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, compiling information on studying and living in Germany, as well as on scholarships. Includes advice on applying to specific fields of study, such as medicine and engineering. Available in both English and German.
