Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards 2017, Indonesia

20 Feb 2017

Cambridge Assessment International Education is delighted to announce the winners of the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards 2017, Indonesia. The awards celebrate the top academic achievements of secondary school learners in the June and November 2016 Cambridge examination series.

134 awards were given to Indonesian learners for exceptional performance in Cambridge examinations at the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards ceremony on Saturday 18 February 2017. These included 24 awards for outstanding learners who attained 'Top in the World', 38 awards for learners who achieved 'High Achievement', and 72 awards for learners who won 'Top in Indonesia' in a single subject. Five awards were given to learners who obtained first place in ‘Best Across Five Cambridge IGCSEs’, ‘Best Across Four Cambridge International AS Levels’ and ‘Best Across Three Cambridge International A Levels’.

In addition, Cambridge Assessment International Education opened its 200th Cambridge school in Indonesia, Sampoerna Academy, L’Avenue Campus, which will offer Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge International AS & A Level examinations to learners in the new semester. Cambridge Assessment International Education has also entered a partnership with Putera Sampoerna Foundation to recruit and develop Cambridge trainers in Indonesia to deliver professional development courses for teachers at Cambridge schools.

Ben Schmidt, Regional Director, Southeast Asia & Pacific, Cambridge Assessment International Education, said: 'With our 200th Cambridge school in Sampoerna Academy L’Avenue Campus, we are proud to be the premier curriculum and assessment partner for schools in Indonesia that wish to offer international education programmes to their students. We are committed to working with our Cambridge schools to develop high-quality learning and teaching standards for Indonesian learners. Our upcoming training partnership with Putera Sampoerna Foundation also marks the first time that we are recruiting and certifying Indonesian teachers as trainers to deliver professional development for teachers in Indonesia and abroad. This is part of our long-term plan to develop local capacity in Cambridge professional teacher-training.'

At the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards ceremony, top-performing learners were presented with awards in a wide range of subjects, including ground-breaking subjects such as Global Perspectives, which stretches across traditional subject boundaries and develops transferable skills, and Cambridge creative and professional qualifications in Art & Design, Enterprise, Information & Communication Technology, Travel & Tourism and Thinking Skills. Indonesian learners have outperformed thousands of candidates worldwide who sat Cambridge IGCSEs and Cambridge International AS & A Levels in June and November 2016. Their outstanding results will be recognised by employers and universities around the world as proof of academic excellence.

Dianindah Apriyani, Cambridge’s Senior Manager, Indonesia, said: 'I am very proud to congratulate our learners on their outstanding results in the Cambridge examinations and to celebrate their hard work and talents together with their teachers, families and friends at this event. I am also glad to see more learners taking on the challenge of Cambridge creative and professional qualifications to develop workplace-ready skills at a young age and scoring the world’s highest marks in these subjects. These achievements are a testimony to the unstinting dedication of our Cambridge teachers in providing the best learning support and guidance to our learners.' 'As our learners step into the next stage of their lives, their Cambridge qualifications, recognised internationally by the world’s best universities, will open up endless opportunities for them. I wish them every success in their future.'
