Guidance on managing results day

To help you think through how to plan and manage results day at your centre, we have prepared some information and guidance on our ‘Managing results day’ page.

Accessing results

All results will be released via Cambridge International Direct (Direct) regardless of whether candidates sat their exams or followed the portfolio of evidence route. We also send you a printed results despatch.

Results day can be very busy so it helps if you prepare in advance.

  • Check your exams officer can access Direct and the ‘candidate results service’ (via Direct)
  • Make sure your candidates know how they will receive their results.

To access your results from Direct, download the relevant instructions:

Priority results information

If a candidate needs their provisional results to be sent straight to a particular institution, they can complete and send us Results and certificates - Form 9. We will send the provisional statement of results to their chosen educational institution on the day that results are released.

Results are produced using the name given for the candidate at the time of their exam.

Results for group awards

You need to be aware of the grading system for group awards so you can answer queries from your candidates when they see their statements of results. See the relevant sections of the Cambridge Guide to Making Entries for more information on

Cambridge International Certificate of Education (ICE)
Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE).

The Cambridge Guide to Making Entries is available to download from the 'Support Materials' section of Direct.

Candidates can apply for the Cambridge Pre-U Diploma by substituting up to two accredited Level 3 syllabuses from other exam boards, for Cambridge Pre-U Principal Subjects. Download and complete the Cambridge Pre-U Diploma Application form.

Cambridge Pre-U Diploma Application form

The application must be submitted by the centre where the candidate sat the Cambridge Pre-U Global Perspectives and Research (GPR) and Principal Subjects exams. We will accept applications after the outcome of any result enquiries for up to 13 months.

Grade transcript service (US only)

The Grade Transcript Service is a new online form that lets US candidates who took exams in the US send grade transcripts to US institutions quickly and securely. Learn more about how to get and send exam grades for US Cambridge students.
