Timetabling exams

Info icon new - imageDue to the Covid-19 pandemic, there is specific guidance for preparing for managing and running exams in your centre on our Information for schools about Coronavirus (Covid-19) pages.

We have key arrangements to help maintain the security of our exams:

  • Every country is allocated to one of the six administrative zones
  • Every school has a specified Key Time that needs to be observed when timetabling occurs
  • Candidates taking timetabled exams must be in an exam or under Full Centre Supervision at the Key Time.

To timetable your exams you need to do the following:

  1. Find out which administrative zone you are in. Go to our administrative zone page and follow the instructions.
  2. Download your timetable for the relevant series and administrative zone.
  3. Find your Key Times so you can timetable your exams to make sure candidates taking timetabled exams are in the exam or under Full Centre Supervision at the Key Times.

Extra guidance

You can create your centre's exam timetable with our easy to use tool: Create your centre's exam timetable (PDF, 368KB)

If you need to arrange a timetable deviation or additional sessions, we have information on how to apply for a timetable deviation in part 1.2 of the Cambridge Handbook, and you can download Timetable Deviation and Additional Sessions - Preparation - Form 2 (PDF, 615KB).

If a candidate must be supervised because of a timetable deviation and the supervisor is not a member of centre staff, download and complete Candidate Supervision Declaration Form - Preparation - Form 7 (PDF, 561KB).

If you need to apply for extra sittings for large numbers of candidates, download and complete Additional Sittings - Preparation – Form 8 (PDF, 627KB).

If you need advice on what to do if there is severe weather, a natural disaster or political unrest during your timetabled exams, download our guidance: Advice regarding severe weather political unrest and natural disasters (PDF, 114KB).
