Getting started with Cambridge International

The Cambridge experience for US students and families

  1. Welcome to Cambridge International! Your school is part of a global network of schools that use the Cambridge Pathway to build students’ knowledge and skills in preparation for higher education and a career. Cambridge International is part of the University of Cambridge in England—one of the top 5 universities in the world.

While each Cambridge school has the freedom to shape their curriculum around how they want students to learn, all Cambridge schools share common goals and values that guide their approach to educating learners.

  2. The Cambridge classroom

What does a Cambridge classroom look like

Learner attributes

We design all our curriculum and assessments with the Cambridge learner attributes in mind. We want to help schools develop learners who are confident, responsible, reflective, innovative, and engaged. Read about the Cambridge learner attributes.

Assessment

We recognize that assessment has two important roles: to prove and improve – to prove what students are learning and to suggest how they can improve their understanding and skills. Our assessments allow students to show both the knowledge and the skills they’ve learned.

College credit and recognition

Cambridge students study curricula and take exams that are recognized for excellence around the world. College-level Cambridge Advanced (International AS & A Level) courses and exams can even lead to college credit and recognition from colleges and universities. Search credit and recognition policies.

I now have a huge toolbox to handle all the different things that are going to be thrown at me in college. The Cambridge program makes sure that when you arrive in college, you are set. Admission officers understand that Cambridge students have the skills that will ensure they are successful.

Kevin Huerlimann, Cambridge alumnus

One of the goals for Cambridge students is to be reflective learners, to always question their own thought patterns. In class we spend a lot of time asking: can you find research that backs up your point? We have rational discussions about different topics that people don't always discuss rationally.
