Benefits for college-bound students

Cambridge students at US colleges and universities

Higher education institutions across the US and around the world recognize and reward student achievement in Cambridge International AS & A Level courses and exams and the Cambridge AICE Diploma. Students may receive college credit, advanced course placement, or scholarships for qualifying grades on Cambridge International AS & A Level exams.

Over 870 institutions in North America have policies for Cambridge students, including all Ivy League colleges, MIT, University of California campuses at Davis, Irvine, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and more, California State University-Los Angeles, Michigan State University, University of Arizona, and New York University, to name just a few.

College credit

Students who receive college credit for Cambridge International AS & A Level exams can shorten the time it takes to earn their degree, and potentially save money in tuition. Institutions typically set a minimum required grade for different subject exams.

Advanced placement

Many colleges will grant Cambridge students advanced placement. This allows students to bypass introductory college courses or fulfill core requirements in certain subjects if they perform well on related Cambridge International AS & A Level exams. This can free up students’ schedules to participate in special programs or even pursue a double major.

Scholarships

Cambridge International AS & A Level exams may qualify students for academic or merit scholarships. States and institutions may also have scholarships specifically for Cambridge students. For example, Florida students who receive the Cambridge AICE Diploma and meet other requirements are eligible for Bright Futures, which covers full tuition at any public Florida institution.

Benefits by US state

Several states grant Cambridge Advanced students college credit for qualifying grades. All public colleges and universities in Florida, Indiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Washington award credit for qualifying grades on Cambridge International AS & A Level exams.

I now have a huge toolbox to handle all the different things that are going to be thrown at me in college. The Cambridge program makes sure that when you arrive in college, you are set. Admission officers understand that Cambridge students have the skills that will ensure they are successful.
