A team of five students from Victoria International School in Malaysia were declared the Best in Southeast Asia & Pacific. Yap Zhi Heng, Siti Noor Halijah Bt Md Muslem, Threessha A/P Uganathan, Ahrayn Jordan Ravi and Ng Zhu Yuan compared different methods of water purification.
The judges said it was a “well-rounded investigation examining various water purification methods. The rationale is clearly introduced, and the methods carefully described and executed. There are extensive results clearly presented and tabulated, to emerge with a clearcut conclusion critically discussed, and extending to the costs of widespread adoption of each of the purification methods. This is a study of high quality on a topical issue.”
Describing their experience, team members said:

Throughout the competition I really enhanced my critical thinking and my teamwork skills, and I definitely enhanced my knowledge of water purification.
