We review all of our syllabuses regularly to make sure they continue to meet the needs of our schools and are up-to-date with current thinking. We have updated this syllabus and all assessment materials or first examination in 2022.
How has the syllabus changed?
- We have made some small changes to the assessment objectives to improve clarity. These changes do not affect the meaning or focus of the assessment objectives.
- The subject content has been updated and changed to better support progression between Cambridge IGCSE, AS and A Level.
- We have moved the subject content to a two-column format and added guidance to help teachers understand the scope of topics. These changes take account of standard command word definitions which have been included in the syllabus.
- We have updated the list of command words to help learners know what's expected of them in the exam.
How has the assessment changed?
- All existing components have been retained and changes are fairly minor, however we have reduced the number of marks on the theory and practical papers.
When do these changes take place?
The updated syllabus is for examination from June 2022. Please see the 2022-2024 syllabus above for full details.
