Students learning with a teacher

Why teach Cambridge Global Perspectives?

  • The focus is on developing skills rather than specific content, giving you the freedom to tailor the course to meet the needs and interests of your students.
  • It has been designed to excite students with opportunities for open debate and discussion.
  • Learners develop and apply practical skills in research methodology, critical thinking and reasoning, helping you to help them deepen the academic experience.
  • The assessment is innovative including team projects, reflective papers, research report and oral presentations.
  • The programme is widely recognised and welcomed by universities around the world including most UK universities and Ivy League universities. Further details are available from our Recognitions page.
  • UK NARIC, the national agency in the UK for the recognition and comparison of international qualifications and skills, has reviewed Cambridge International AS & A Level Global Perspectives and found that it is comparable to UK A Level and develops skills that are particularly relevant in preparing students for higher education study internationally.
  • The programme of study follows some of the principles of the Common Core State Standards (in the US).
  • We provide an innovative and secure online learning area. This allows teachers and students to set up groups, collaborate and communicate; to upload their portfolios and reflective logs; and access the comprehensive online interactive Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge International AS Level Global Perspectives courses that are also available in the learning area. Find out more about our online learning area.
  • The wide range of support available helps you plan and deliver the programme. From learning and exam preparation resources to professional development and discussion forums, we can give you access to a worldwide teaching community, enabling you to connect with other teachers, swap ideas and share best practice.
  • Cambridge International AS & A Levels have been developed in response to feedback from higher education institutions. Cambridge Global Perspectives addresses this feedback by equipping students with a firm grasp of core research, collaboration, presentation, argumentation and higher order thinking skills that enhance a student's subject-specific knowledge.

With thousands of Cambridge learners gaining places every year at the world's best universities, it’s no surprise that we are the choice of more than 10,000 schools in 160 countries.

Sample lesson plans

We developed some sample lesson plans and teaching resources for Cambridge Global Perspectives Week (March 2020) so schools could try out a Global Perspectives lesson.

Our sample lesson plans for primary and secondary school students are still available and can be downloaded below. Each lesson is an hour long and focuses on developing one key skill.
