Accessibility and standards

This website has been designed to be as accessible as possible to people with disabilities. It is compatible with, but not optimised for, adaptive technologies including screen readers and text-only web browsers.

To navigate this website, primary links and search features can be found in the header, left and right carousel navigation within the body and secondary links within the panels.

This website has been built to comply with standards for most modern browsers. If the information does not display correctly, we suggest you update to the most current version of your preferred browser.

Supported browsers

This website operates on a wide range of browsers and operating systems. It has been tested specifically against:

Microsoft Windows

  • Internet Explorer 11.0
  • Internet Explorer 10.0
  • Internet Explorer 9.0

The latest version of:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Safari

Mac OSX

The latest version of:

  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Safari

Screen size and resolution

This website has been designed to be flexible for most standard screen resolutions and is best viewed at 1024 x 768. It will be viewable at a screen resolution of 800 x 600 but you will miss the total experience in this format.

To enlarge your browser to fit the whole size of your screen:

  • In Internet Explorer 8.0 select View > Full Screen or press F11
  • In Mozilla Firefox, select View > Full Screen or press F11.

Other browsers may vary.

Accessibility for the visually impaired

In order to improve accessibility for people with colour-related visual impairments, the website has been designed so that you can import your own style sheet.

  • In Internet Explorer 8.0 select Tools > Internet options > Accessibility. Next click on any or all of three checkboxes to ignore colours, font styles or font sizes. In the same window you can change your style sheet by clicking the checkbox that says, 'format documents using my style sheet' then simply browse to your style sheet and click OK.
  • In Mozilla Firefox select Tools > Options > Content then your chosen font family.

Other browsers may vary.

Alternatively, should you wish to navigate this site without colour:

  • Internet Explorer 8.0 select Tools > Internet options > Accessibility > Ignore colours specified on Web pages.
  • In Mozilla Firefox select Tools > Options > Content > Fonts & Colours > Colours, then uncheck 'Allow pages to choose their own colours, instead of my selections above'.

Documents

Some of the files on this website are supplied in PDF format. We recommend that users download the latest free version of Adobe Reader to access these.

Many of the PDF documents on this website were initially designed for print. This means they do not meet web accessibility standard WCAG 2.1. For example, they may not contain text alternatives or may be structured in a way which is incompatible with screen readers. If you require any of these documents in a different format, please contact us at info@cambridgeinternational.org (with the subject heading: Digital accessibility) and we will aim to respond within 15 working days.

Multimedia

We provide an increasing number of video clips on the site, to bring our content to life and to make it available to people who find it easier to view rather than read information. Currently we do not provide closed captions for video but plan to do so in the future.

Feedback

Maintaining an accessible site is an on-going process and we still have work to do to meet the standards we have set ourselves. However, if you have any problems using this website, or comments you would like to make, please contact us.
