Frequently asked questions

We have provided answers to some common questions below.

  • What should I do if it is taking a long time to upload a document?
    • The speed at which you can upload a document to Submit for Assessment can be impacted by your internet connection and the size of the file you are trying to upload. We recommend using Handbrake to reduce the size of your files and we have included instructions about how to do this in our administrative guides.

      • View the Administrative Guide: Using Submit for Assessment to submit portfolios of evidence (PDF, 1MB)
  • I can no longer see my candidates in Submit for Assessment – why is this?
    • Submit for Assessment shows you which candidates you still need to upload documents for. It hides candidates whose work you have already uploaded. You can change the filter to show all candidates, as shown in the image below:

  • How can I check I have successfully submitted my files?
    • After you have submitted your documents to us, we send you a confirmation email. This comes from submitforassessment@cambridgeassessment.org.uk We recommend adding this to your email contacts. Check your junk/spam folders if you do not receive a confirmation email.

Submit for Assessment also displays a ‘submitted’ status against the candidates whose documents you have submitted successfully.

  • How do I find the component number that my candidates are entered for?
    • You can find component information on your statement(s) of entry, as shown in the image below. You can view your statement(s) of entry on Direct.

  • I have missed a submission deadline what should I do?
    • If you have missed a deadline for submitting work or a portfolio of evidence we will contact you to tell you what you need to do. Look out for emails from scriptreturn@cambridgeinternational.org you may need to check your junk or spam mailboxes.

  • If I think I’m going to miss a submission deadline what do I need to do?
    • If you expect to miss a deadline for submitting work or a portfolio of evidence contact us info@cambridgeinternational.org straight away for support and advice.

  • Where can I find more information about using the Submit for Assessment service?
      • Information about using Submit for Assessment for moderated and examined work
      • Information about using Submit for Assessment for sending us portfolios of evidence
  • How can I approve marks for my Associate centres?
    • If your Associate Centre submits marks in Submit for Assessment you need to approve the marks they submit.

You can find information about how to do this in our approving marks factsheet (PDF, 337KB).

  • How do I link a document with multiple candidates?
    • Once you have uploaded or ‘dragged and dropped’ a file onto a candidate’s evidence section (for example ‘Evidence 1’) you will see the option ‘Link with other candidates’. If you want to link the file you have uploaded with other candidates, follow the instructions below:

Step 1: click on ‘Link with other candidates’

Step 2: You will see all the files you have uploaded to that evidence section (e.g. ‘Evidence 1’) Choose the file(s) you want to link with other candidates (e.g. the task and/or Rationale Document) then click ‘Next’.

A screenshot of Submit for Assessment which shows you the files that are available to be linked with other candidates

Step 3: Select the candidates you want to link to the task and/or Rationale Document. Click ‘Save’. The files you selected are now linked with the selected candidates and have been added to their evidence sections.

  • What should I do if I have applied for a candidate exemption?
    • If all candidates are exempt for a component, you do not need to take any further action in Submit for Assessment. If only some candidates are exempt/absent, then the other candidates’ work needs to be submitted. If any candidates are exempt for 0457/03 then you must submit the absences in Submit for Assessment rather than on Direct.
