Like many schools during the 2020 pandemic, Kingman Unified School District (KUSD) experienced disruptions and challenges to teaching and learning. The district needed to assess their students’ progress to ensure they were not held back by learning loss, and also give teachers meaningful, actionable feedback. KUSD chose Cambridge CEM diagnostic assessments. CEM assessments can be used by all schools and districts, including schools that use the Cambridge curriculum.

Assess students’ progress with diagnostics: KUSD schools administered Cambridge CEM diagnostic assessments to its middle school students to assess students’ progress in math and English. The assessment process was completed online, during one class period. Results were available the next day.
Give teachers actionable data: Cambridge CEM diagnostic reports gave teachers immediate, relevant, and meaningful data on students’ progress, which they used to make immediate changes to instruction in their classrooms.
I get chills thinking about it. We may have captured or prevented some learning loss because the teachers changed instruction based on the data from their CEM assessments. - Margaret Stevenson Smith, KUSD Cambridge Coordinator
