We recognise that the largest impact on the quality of educational outcomes is classroom teaching. It is what teachers know and do that makes the difference in improving student learning and outcomes. To help achieve this teachers also need the support of their school leader.
We have developed the Cambridge School Leader and Teacher standards which define what we believe to be the key characteristics and practices of effective teachers and school leaders.

As a new school, the Cambridge Teacher Standards have provided us with a clear and coherent framework for developing teaching and learning; they provide a common language for improving our practice. We now possess a shared understanding of the knowledge, skills and behaviours of effective teachers. The standards have also inspired a high level of confidence in our teachers because they are designed to directly support the effective delivery of Cambridge programmes. We look forward to using the Cambridge Teacher Standards to drive a culture of continuous improvement.
The Cambridge School Leader Standards have enabled our school to create a dynamic and exciting teaching and learning culture that is responsive and tailored to the needs of our students. It is a culture where taking risks is encouraged and where teachers and learners understand that making mistakes is an essential part of the learning process. Through the standards, school leaders have created a range of fantastic opportunities for teachers to develop innovative practice in areas including digital technologies. The impact of this is that we have a vibrant learning community where teachers and learners can flourish and thrive.
