District of the Year Awards in the US are awards issued by Cambridge Assessment International Education. They recognise districts that have consistently strong learner performance in their schools and who have also continued to expand their offering of the Cambridge Pathway. Each year we award one district in each of the following segments:
The District of the Year Award is based on the following criteria:
Criteria 1 – Sustained high performance
Based on the last three years of data we look at which districts continue to maintain or grow their high performing pass rates.
Criteria 2 – Performance compared to other schools
For the current school year we review the total number of Cambridge Outstanding Learner Awards.
Criteria 3 – Access and equity
Based on the last two years of data, we review the extent to which a district has provided all students in their district the opportunity to participate in the Cambridge program. This includes district school and student participation and accessibility to the subjects offered. We also looked at the growth of Cambridge IGCSEs and Cambridge International AS & A Levels entries in the past three years.
