Extension professional development

Extension professional development is designed for teachers who have been teaching Cambridge International programmes and qualifications for at least one year or one exam cycle. This is to ensure teachers can contribute meaningfully to discussions with other teachers on their experiences of teaching the syllabus or curriculum. It enables teachers to engage with our syllabuses and curriculum frameworks in greater depth and build confidence in their delivery.

Teachers will typically:

  • develop a deeper understanding of syllabus aims and assessment objectives
  • learn about updates and changes to our syllabuses or curriculum frameworks
  • explore how to use sample questions and examiner reports to support your learners
  • further understand and apply mark schemes to recent candidate responses
  • explore progression tests, Cambridge Primary Checkpoint and Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint (where applicable)
  • review curriculum resources and teaching strategies, and how to use these in short, medium and long-term planning
  • share ideas with other Cambridge International teachers.
