Conference breakout sessions offer the opportunity to explore new ideas, ask questions and share best practice. You can attend up to four breakout sessions over the two days and need to express interest in your preferred sessions, as part of your booking. However, expressing interest does not guarantee a place in sessions.
The confirmed breakout schedule will be released at a later date so you can decide which sessions to attend on the day. There is limited space in each breakout session and not all sessions will run at the same time, so plan to be at your preferred session in good time!

Target audience: Classroom teachers of Cambridge IGCSE, Cambridge O Level and Cambridge International A Level sciences.
Breakout description: Participants will:
The session will use exam questions, mark schemes and Principal Examiner Reports for teachers from a variety of science assessments to show how these three resources can be used to improve the reliability and validity of classroom-based assessments and therefore improve candidate performance in Cambridge examinations.
Format: Presentation with opportunity for questions
Target audience: Teachers of Primary Science, middle leaders of Primary Science.
This session explores the importance of scientific enquiry and its role in the Cambridge Primary Science programme.

Target audience: Senior leaders and school owners.
This session will describe the tools and support Cambridge International can give schools that would like to establish how they measure against a set of standards that we have devised.
Target audience: Classroom teachers of Cambridge IGCSE & Cambridge O Level.
The session will use questions from an English assessment to show the journey from first draft to final printed copy, and some statistical evidence of question performance in a live examination. The principles of developing valid assessments can lead to teachers asking better questions in the classroom that can improve teaching and learning and thus creating the conditions for success.
Target audience: Classroom teachers of Upper Secondary, particularly Cambridge IGCSE, Cambridge O Level and Cambridge International A & AS Level (applicable to all subject backgrounds), school leaders, middle leaders, school coordinators.
This session supports the conference theme of ‘Creating the Conditions for Success’ by focusing on how teachers can help all learners successfully transition through the Upper Secondary Cambridge Pathway.

According to the OECD, the US and the UK are the two most popular destination country in the world for international students. In this session, we will present key information on how to best support students applying to US and UK universities and colleges with Cambridge International AS & A Levels and Cambridge IGCSEs. This session supports the conference theme ‘Creating the conditions for success’ by exploring how Cambridge learners can access higher education in these two countries.

This session will develop the themes introduced in Kevin Hawkins’ and Amy Burke’s keynote, and explore with practical examples the evidence that training in mindfulness is an effective way of alleviating stress, anxiety and depression, as well as promoting wellbeing and flourishing in a demanding social environment.

This session will develop the themes introduced in Valerie Hannon’s keynote, and will explore some of the models of practice case-studied in her new book.
This session will develop the themes introduced in Prof Amanda Kirby’s keynote and discuss ways schools can take an ecological approach to supporting the neurodiverse pupil. Practical strategies for delivering this approach will be provided and useful not only for the neurodiverse student but benefit all - with or without 'labels'.

Target audience: School leaders and teachers, staff with pastoral or counselling responsibility.
This session will develop the themes introduced in Prof Jonathan Glazzard’s keynote and explore the responsibilities of social media companies, schools, parents and young people to protect members of the digital community from harm therefore allowing young people to achieve success.
