Creating a positive environment for academic success

Orlando, US June 2023

A critical factor for success in schools is the environment in which students learn and socialise together. Practitioners and researchers posed the question: how do we best create an environment that raises learner outcomes and maximises their future opportunities?

At this Cambridge Schools Conference we invited participants to explore these ideas with us and to reflect on their implications in today’s world.

We can define a positive school environment as a combination of personal and contextual factors that increase prosocial relationships and positive behaviours in the school community. The sessions explored this perspective along with tools that could be implemented at the school – and classroom – level, such as the promotion of personal responsibility, engagement, and self-determination.

The presentations and workshops offered a wide range of topics related to the conference theme and more broadly on how Cambridge International can support you and your school.
