Student Spandan Mehta enjoyed studying Cambridge IGCSE Global Perspectives so much he continued with the subject at Cambridge International AS Level.
‘The thing that attracted me about Global Perspectives was its openness. You can discuss many things, and it is not a one-track subject or just theoretical. It's a coursework subject so there are lots of hands-on things to do, and it allows you to explore different types of research methods.
‘I am interested in international affairs so the research report I did for my Global Perspectives International AS Level was based on globalisation and whether it has had a positive or a negative impact.
‘I came to the conclusion that globalisation is good if implemented in the right way - then it is certainly beneficial for the world. That was similar to my view at the start, but during my research I came to know more about the negative aspects of globalisation. I realised that if globalisation is not implemented in the right way then it could have harmful effects, like local cultures being banished from the host country.
‘Global Perspectives definitely helped me with other subjects, especially with humanities subjects like history, geography, or even psychology. It helps because you start researching in a manner where you get accurate information, and information which is relevant to your topic.
‘It has also helped me outside of class too and developed my interest in activities like debating and going to the Model United Nations.’
Spandan Mehta is a student at The Galaxy School - Wadi, in Gujarat, India. The school follows the Cambridge Pathway at primary and secondary stages, including Cambridge Global Perspectives, and students take Cambridge IGCSE and International A Level examinations.
