Cambridge IGCSE Literature in English enables learners to read, interpret and evaluate texts through the study of literature in English. They develop an understanding of literal meaning, relevant contexts and of the deeper themes or attitudes that may be expressed.
The range includes drama, prose and poetry from the works of Shakespeare to contemporary literature. This course enables learners to deepen their understanding and appreciation of the ways in which writers use English to express meaning and achieve effects.
This syllabus replaces 0486 Cambridge IGCSE Literature (English). This syllabus is renamed Literature in English. The name has been changed to ensure comparability with the Cambridge O Level and Cambridge International AS & A Level, both of which are called Literature in English. The last series for Cambridge International 0486 IGCSE Literature (English) will be November 2019.
To help you deliver the updated syllabus, we are developing a comprehensive support package including a Teacher Guide and a scheme of work. These resources will be available via our Teacher Support site. A range of textbooks prepared by our Core Team Publishers will also be available.
