A group of teachers in Uruguay have become the first in the country to complete the Cambridge International Diploma in Teaching with ICT.
The teachers received their certificates at a special event at the Presidency in Montevideo, attended by senior figures in Uruguayan education.
Every speaker emphasised the quality of the Diploma programme, its practical and reflective nature and how it fostered collaborative learning among the trainees and their tutors.
In Uruguay, the Diploma programme is supporting Plan Ceibal, the country’s innovative and widely praised initiative to provide a laptop for every child.
The Diploma programme is being run by the Consejo de Formación en Educación (CFE), Uruguay’s national teaching training agency. CFE has gained approval for it to be a recognised postgraduate diploma in Uruguay so it is already attracting a growing number of teachers.
Cambridge Assessment International Education has recently introduced its new Professional Development Qualifications (PDQs). We are assisting CFE and Plan Ceibal in designing their programme for our Certificate and Diploma in Teaching with Digital Technologies so that these PDQs help as many Uruguayan teachers as possible over the next few years.
