  • New Regional Director joins our team in Sub-Saharan Africa

New Regional Director joins our team in Sub-Saharan Africa

13 May 2014

Juan Visser

As a world leader in providing international programmes and qualifications for school education, we are expanding our international team including in Sub-Saharan Africa. Having a dedicated local team is an important part of supporting our growing community of almost 700 Cambridge schools and working effectively with universities and governments.

We are therefore delighted to announce that Juan Visser joined us on Thursday 1 May as Regional Director, Sub-Saharan Africa. Juan is based in Midrand, South Africa. He joins Senior Schools Development Manager Mark Barber who is based in Cape Town, South Africa.

Juan has a strong understanding of the education sector, having spent the last 12 years working for City & Guilds International (an independent awarding body) as the Regional Manager for Africa. His extensive experience will be extremely valuable as he develops and expands the support we offer. He holds a degree in Psychology and an MBA (Master of Business Administration) from the Wits Business School in South Africa. Juan is also fluent in Afrikaans.

Juan says, “I am delighted to join Cambridge Assessment International Education and look forward to working with our growing number of schools in Sub-Saharan Africa to provide them with world-class education and support our learners to be the best they can be.”

Juan will lead our growing Sub-Saharan Africa team as well as building and strengthening relationships with schools, universities, governments and key education organisations including publishers and the British Council. His appointment will support the growing popularity of Cambridge programmes and qualifications in the region as well as enabling us to build a larger team covering East and West Africa next year. Mark will continue to be a key player in the team and work with our schools across the region, allowing Juan to focus on other important areas of the business to support our growth.

You can contact Juan at visser.j@cie.org.uk. Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact our Sub-Saharan Africa team.

For all other enquiries, you can contact our Customer Services team either by email at info@cie.org.uk or by phone (+44 1223 553 554).
