As a world leader in providing international programmes and qualifications for school education, we are expanding our international team, including in Middle East & North Africa (MENA). Having a dedicated local team is an important part of supporting our growing community of almost 600 Cambridge schools, and working effectively with universities and governments. The MENA region includes UAE, Iraq, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Yemen, Qatar, Iran, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco.
We are delighted to announce that Waseem Al Hanbali has been promoted to become Regional Director, MENA. Many of you will know Waseem as our Senior Schools Development Manager for Middle East and Gulf. He is based in UAE and works closely with Magda Mohyeldin (our Senior Schools Development Manager based in Egypt).
Waseem has been with Cambridge since 2000 and has played a key role in organising academic partnerships and securing agreements with influential organisations in the region, including the contracting of education and teacher training projects in Bahrain, Kuwait, UAE and Oman. Waseem holds a degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina, USA.
Waseem says, “I am delighted to take on this role within Cambridge Assessment International Education and I’m looking forward to continuing to work with the team to support our growing number of schools in the MENA region.”
Waseem will lead our growing MENA team, as well as building and strengthening relationships with schools, universities, governments and key education organisations including publishers and the British Council. His appointment will support the growing popularity of Cambridge programmes and qualifications in the region as well as enabling us to build a larger team.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Simon Higgins, who has managed the MENA team over the last year. He will be handing over to Waseem during May before moving on to other projects within Cambridge Assessment International Education until September. We are incredibly grateful for all his support and hard work as interim Regional Manager.
If you have any questions, please contact our MENA team. For all other enquiries, you can contact our Customer Services team either by email or by phone (+44 1223 553 554). Find details of career opportunities with Cambridge Assessment International Education, both in MENA and in other regions.
