Teaching & learning
The Cambridge International AS Level Physical Science syllabus builds on the skills acquired at Cambridge IGCSE (or equivalent) level. The syllabus includes the main theoretical concepts which are fundamental to the subject, current applications of physical science, and a strong emphasis on advanced practical skills. Practical skills are assessed in a timetabled practical examination.
The emphasis throughout is on the understanding of concepts and the application of physical science ideas in novel contexts as well as on the acquisition of knowledge. The course encourages creative thinking and problem-solving skills which are transferable to any future career path.
Cambridge International AS Level Physical Science is ideal for learners who want to study physical science or a wide variety of related subjects at university, or to follow a career in science.
We are withdrawing Cambridge International AS Level Physical Science (8780). The last examination for this syllabus is November 2017. You may be interested in Cambridge International AS & A Level Chemistry (9701) or Cambridge International AS & A Level Physics (9702) as possible alternative qualifications. These are popular and well established qualifications with a wide range of support materials and text books.
