Teaching and learning
This syllabus is designed for students who are learning German as a foreign language. The aim is to develop an ability to use the language effectively for purposes of practical communication. The course is based on the linked language skills of listening, reading, speaking and writing, and these are built on as learners progress through their studies.
The syllabus also aims to offer insights into the culture and civilisation of countries where German is spoken, thus encouraging positive attitudes towards language learning and towards speakers of foreign languages.
This syllabus is graded from 9 to 1 but is otherwise the same as Cambridge IGCSE German (0525). You will find past papers and other resources for Cambridge IGCSE German (0525); these may be useful for teaching Cambridge IGCSE (9-1) German (7159).
Cambridge IGCSE (9-1) German (7159) is available in the June and November series for schools in the UK only.
The syllabus year refers to the year in which the examination will be taken.
