Teaching & learning
We have been working with schools in Lesotho for over 50 years, providing and reviewing senior secondary education across the expanding school system.
We have been working in partnership with the Examinations Council of Lesotho (ECOL), providing capacity building. This is to help enable ECOL to deliver Cambridge qualifications, administer them through their own IT systems, carry out the marking and grading locally, and to develop its own Lesotho General Certificate of Secondary Education (LGCSE).
Having carried out quality assurance procedures, Cambridge now accredits the LGCSE qualifications as equivalent in level and demand to Cambridge IGCSE. This ensures that the LGCSE is recognised internationally.
We also continue to train ECOL examiners when required, particularly in paper setting, marking and grading, and in developing and upgrading syllabuses and teacher support materials.
Cambridge has worked closely with the National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) and Inspectorate, as well as with school principals and teachers in developing new syllabuses.
We contribute to the professional training and development of key policy makers in the Ministry of Education and Training and ECOL through conferences, seminars and courses run in Cambridge, Lesotho and elsewhere in Southern Africa.
